The Legend of Zelda : Twilight Princess is often regarded as one of the best in the series by fans. Ten years later the classic returns with a new coat of paint, but does it still hold up to its name? Absolutely. It’s so easy to lose yourself within the vast game world, we simply didn’t want to put it down.
Twilight Princess’s nine dungeons are back and more beautiful than ever. Each dungeon shines in HD from top to bottom and while some textures look better than others, it’s easy to ignore. Each dungeon offers the series’ familiar tough puzzles and bosses, while maintaining the nostalgic feel of returning to the Temple of Time or the deeply complex City in the Sky. Twilight Princess HD is also a great starting point for newcomers to the series as the changes from the original easily improve gameplay.
This new version of Twilight Princess fronts improved controls, Wii U gamepad interactivity, and Amiibo support. With the ability to change Link from human to Wolf form with a touch of a button, you will save time during combat. Changes to gameplay include less “Tears of Light” to collect changing a potentially frustrating early game mission to a manageable one.
Hero Mode is also available from the start for returning Zelda Veterans, this ensures a challenge even if you’ve played the game before. Hero Mode is essenatilly a mirrored version of Twilight Princess with enemies dealing double damage and never dropping life hearts. Amiibo support is also an interesting addition to Twilight Princess HD. An entirely new dungeon titled “The Cave of Shadows” is unlocked when using the Wolf Link Amiibo. The dungeon focuses on Wolf Link this time around and has you defeating enemies in waves to unlock new and hidden items.

The Amiibos for Zelda, Ganondorf, Link, Toon Link, and Shiek also may come in handy. While Zelda and Shiek heal Link’s health, and Link and Toon Link grant more arrows, you may want to think twice about using Ganondorf. The Ganondorf Amiibo makes Link take double damage with blue hearts instead of pink. This new feature coupled with Hero Mode is possibly the most difficult way to play Twilight Princess HD as Link takes a staggering four times damage. This can only be compared to a Dark Souls like experience, one not for the faint-hearted.
Overall, The Legend of Zelda : Twilight Princess HD brings back the classic Zelda experience we know and love in an awesome way. The new gameplay changes and Amiibo support make a classic title even better!
