What’s the Best Way to Spawn Items In Stardew Valley?
Whether you’re a new player or someone who has a couple of hundred hours under their belt playing Stardew Valley, sometimes you just need a little help to make things easier. That’s where item spawning comes in handy.
In this article, I’ll be discussing the two most popular ways (without the use of mods or external programs) that you can use to spawn items in Stardew Valley.
Spawning items in Stardew Valley can be done in two ways. You can either name your character at the start of the game or name your animal later on.
Both have their advantages and disadvantages.
One important thing to note is that naming your character with item IDs is quick and free, it can only be done at the beginning of the game when you’re creating your character.
After that, you won’t be able to change your character’s name, so you won’t be able to use this method again unless you start a new game.
On the other hand, naming your animal with item IDs can be done at any point in the game, as long as you can afford to buy an animal you can name.
This means you can use this method to spawn items throughout your playthrough, not just at the beginning of the game.
Having experienced both options at various stages of my own playthroughs, my go-to is spawning items by naming an animal.
Spawn Items by Naming an Animal
If you’re looking to spawn items in Stardew Valley using an animal, here are the simple steps to do it:
Head over to Marnie’s Ranch, which you can visit from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm each day, except Mondays, Tuesdays, Fall 18, and Winter 18.

Select the “Purshase Animals” option and purchase an animal; Preferably a chicken since it’s the cheapest option available and won’t hurt your wallet during the early game.

After selecting an animal to purchase, in this case, a Chicken. You’ll need to choose a coop where your animal will live.

After choosing a coop for your new Chicken you’ll be asked to give it a name. now here is where the magic happens.
You’ll need to name your new pet with square brackets surrounding the ID of each item you wish to spawn – for example, I typed “[337]” since I wanted to spawn an Iridium Bar.

Once confirmed, the item will appear instantly in your inventory.

To save some cash, you can use one animal purchase to acquire multiple items. Naming your animals with multiple IDs at once will allow spawning more than one item like “[279][908][163]”.
That would correspond to Magic Rock Candy (ID 279), Magic Bait (ID 908), and Legend Fish (ID (ID 163).

This way you’re getting more items for the same purchase price of one chicken which is a very cool way to lower your cost and maximize your profits.

By using this method to spawn items you guarantee getting any items you need in the game whenever you need them or wish for them.
It’s my go-to method of spawning items in Stardew Valley, and I’m sure you’ll grow to love it as well.
Spawn Items by Naming Your Character
If you’re looking for a fast and easy way to get specific items in Stardew Valley, one popular method is “character-spawning.”
By naming your character with the IDs of the desired items at the start of the game, possibilities are endless.
While this method has some limitations, such as only being usable at the start of the game, it can be a free, quick, and easy way to get specific items.
I’ll explain this process in more detail below.
When you first open a new game, you’re asked to type information such as farm name, favorite thing, and mainly your character name.
To successfully execute this method you’ll need to type in your character name as three item IDs surrounded by square brackets.

For instance, I was going for a Prismatic Shard, Galaxy Soul, and a Legend Fish. which are one of the rarest items to find in the game. So the name I choose was in this format “[74][986][163]”
After typing these items’ Ids as your character name you hit Ok. and start your game.
Now to prompt the items to spawn you’ll need to talk to the villagers, since when they’ll be saying your name the items you choose as a character name will be automatically dropped in your inventory.

You can talk to all the villagers to stack your inventory and you can talk to them multiple times. so the possibilities of what you can do are endless.

It’s worth noting that while this method can be helpful for getting specific items quickly, it can only be used when you first start a game.
So you’ll need to think carefully about the items you wanna spawn to help accelerate your early game.
How Do You Get Infinite Items in Stardew Valley?
If you’re looking to get infinite items in Stardew Valley, the spawn items method is a great option.
By naming your character or animals with the IDs of the items you want to spawn, you can easily obtain those items at will.
Since naming your character to spawn items will only get you far in the game. Your go-to to spawn unlimited items should be naming your animals.
It will cost you some money since you’ll be purchasing a lot of animals and building a few coops and bans, but it’s very much worth it.
One trick I use to maximize my profits and get unlimited items is by selling my animals after requiring the items I wanted.
This way I don’t lose any money and you can be able to rinse and repeat this process.
Selling items or animals is very easy in Stardew Valley. All you need to do is locate the animals you wanna sell right click on them and choose to sell option.

This way you get your money back and also you free up the Item Id which that animal had as its name, and now you can get the same item again and again.
